Camp Bethel Yoga Classes – August 2018
Sunrise Yoga (Monday-Saturday 6:30-7:30AM)
Awaken slowly to the day with this quiet, meditative mat class. We begin each class resting in a restorative pose and then gradually awaken our bodies with movements which incorporate the breath while fostering flexibility and a sense of well-being. This is an ideal class for students of all levels who want to begin the day in slow and deliberate way.
Yoga for Arthritis and Chronic Pain (Monday & Thursday 1:30-2:30PM)
More than 50 million adults over the age of 18 have doctor-diagnosed arthritis and 100+ million suffer from chronic pain. While no one therapy is right for everyone, gentle yoga, meditation and breath work can help such individuals cope with pain and discomfort. Yoga for Arthritis and Chronic Pain focuses on conscious, gentle movement of the joints using the breath. Unlike most yoga classes, students do not need to get on the floor. Instead individuals are encouraged to use props such as chairs, straps and blocks to support themselves in the poses. Emphasis is on adapting movement, relaxation, and meditation practices for the challenges of living with pain, arthritis, and related conditions. A highly adaptive practice for individuals of all ages and abilities, but especially for those with joint pain or limited mobility.
*New!! Yoga for Back Care (Tuesday & Friday 2:30-3:30PM)
This class focusses on practicing postures in a way that enhances the health of the back and spine. You’ll learn to relieve tension in the back body as well as strengthen your core to support proper spinal alignment. This class is designed to be therapeutic in nature, and moves at a pace that will allow you to care for any injuries or issues you may have (such as chronic back pain, scoliosis, disc injuries, stenosis, or sacroiliac pain). Must be able to get onto the floor. All are welcome to attend, whether you have back pain or just want to prevent it!
Stretch and Play Kids Yoga – VBS (Tuesday & Thursday – TBD) Thirty minutes of music, stretching, dancing and yoga games for children ages 3-10.
